What To Do In Toowoomba This Winter

There’s nothing quite like curling up in the warmth of your home during the cold Toowoomba winters.

But just because it’s getting chilly, that doesn’t mean there’s not lots to do around town.

And, given the COVID-19 restrictions have eased, it’s a great time to support our local community and take advantage of everything Toowoomba has to offer.

From fun festivals to art trails and everything in between, here’s our round-up of what to do in Toowoomba this winter.

Toowoomba Languages and Cultures Festival

Attendees at the annual TLC Festival will be thrilled by a kaleidoscope of colour, community, languages and diversity. This is the festival’s 15th year and it’s the perfect place to bring the whole family. There’s plenty of food stalls with tasty treats from all over the world, not to mention intriguing performances, arts and craft stalls, a lantern display, fun rides, a circus and much more.

When and where
The TLC Festival is at Queen’s Park on Sunday 30 May. Adult tickets are $10 and children under 18 get in for free.

Over three huge days, it’s the best place to see the latest and greatest in big farm machinery, irrigation equipment, produce, tools and everything you need for a life on the land.

Chrome and Clutter Retro Festival

It’s not exactly in Toowoomba, but take a relaxing drive to Laidley in June to enjoy a three-day sensation of retro fun. At the Chrome and Clutter Festival, it’s all about classic cars, rockabilly music and vintage markets. There’s also plenty of different competitions to bring out your retro self (think: pin-up models, tattoos, best dressed partner and pet), plus a smorgasbord of incredible classic cars to appreciate.

When and where
Chrome and Clutter Retro Festival is at the Laidley Showgrounds from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 June.

InStudios Art Trail

The 2021 event is a 10-year celebration for the InStudios Art Trail, and it’s the perfect way to wrap up winter. Over four weekends in August, visitors can explore more than 30 open studios and exhibitions from fabulous local artists. Not only can you marvel at some incredible artwork, but you can meet the makers, participate in workshops, learn their techniques and more.

When and where
InStudios Art Trail runs over four weekends in August (7th and 8th; 14th and 15th; 21st and 22nd; 28th and 29th). It’s a self-drive trail through the High Country Hamlets region between Highfields and Crows Nest.
