A Boost To Toowoomba Economy

A recent article by the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) has provided an insight into a new initiative to position Toowoomba as a competitive and viable food hub.

A project is being driven by the Toowoomba & Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) & University of Southern Queensland (USQ) and other key stakeholders created the concept of Food Leaders Australia (FLA). Essentially, nation wide primary producers, food processing and other value adding businesses will soon have greater support to grow their capability to secure global opportunities. The vision is to set this up in the Darling Downs.

“This will deliver an important economic boost to the Darling Downs economy and housing market,” Daniel Burrett, General Manager/Sales Professional of RE/MAX Success commented.

With the tagline of “growing your global opportunity”, FLA will position the Toowoomba region as a viable and competitive food hub, to assist Australian based and operated businesses get export ready and access export markets to grow their overall business capability.

New and emerging markets in China, while still maintaining some bulk commodity demand, will increasingly look to a clean, green and safe Australia to provide food produce and related services.

“We have an incredibly exciting future for our city,” Mr Burrett concluded. “The Wagners Airport, FKG processing plant and the FLA concept all show a confidence in the Toowoomba region from a national and (soon to be) international perspective.”
