Let’s Tackle Brain Cancer!

Many of our RE/MAX friends and family have been impacted by cancer and in particular of recent times, a long-term friend and also RE/MAX client, Rebecca Ashley (nee Harman), lost her mother to brain cancer. Through family they shared a request to assist with raising funds for research, specifically through the Mark Hughes Foundation.

Upon looking into the cause, we were stunned at what we discovered. If you knew that brain cancer kills more children than any other disease, you’d be one of very few people who do!

  • Approximately 1,200 people die each year from brain cancer, which is about one every 7 hours. We simply cannot sit back and accept this!
  • 90% of children survive leukaemia; 90% of people survive breast cancer; 20% of people survive brain cancer.
  • Brain cancer kills more people under 40 in Australia than any other cancer.
  • Brain cancer treatment costs more per patient than other types yet receives less than 5% Government funding.

In honour of our dear friend’s mother, Pat, we are hosting a Beanie for Brain Cancer Day on Friday, 23rd June 2017. Our RE/MAX Success staff members will wear their favourite beanie to work and make a donation to help us reach our fundraising goal of $1,500. View our flyer HERE.
