August Market Update
Hello! Something a bit different today! We are coming to you from the Botanical Gardens in Queens Park with a community announcement! In addition to our market wrap for August, we are going to tell you everything you need to know about the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers!
Secondly, James is enjoying some time at Byron Bay this week so I would like to introduce you to Emma, our Team’s anchor & Business Manager. She keeps everything running and, with a marketing background, looks after all our property and team campaigns. Take it away Emma!
The Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is in her 68th year in 2017 and is responsible for our city coming alive with flavours, colours and even pride. As the “peoples carnival” Toowoomba is in full bloom with stunning floral parks and gardens blanketing our landscape.
Perhaps just as famous as the flowers is the entertainment. The party atmosphere that grips the city includes the grand parade, sideshow alley and the Food and Wine festival. So here is everything that you need to know:
The carnival starts on Friday the 15th of September until Sunday the 24th of September. The official opening of the carnival occurs the night before with a Gala Dinner at Laurel Bank Park. For the 10 days of magic, Queens Park Botanical Gardens on the corner of Campbell & Lindsay Streets, where we are now, will be the hub of the carnival.
Over the 10 days, however, there are numerous tours of the prize winning private gardens including the grand champion garden and top exhibition gardens. A guided tour is just $93.50 and can be booked directly with Stonestreet Coaches.
The Grand Floral Parade is held at 3pm on Saturday the 16th of September. Roughly 100,000 people will line the streets of the CBD as hundreds of flowery floats wind their way through the heart of the city. The parade starts at Herries Street, turns onto Ruthven, then Margaret and finally Hume Street before finishing at Queens Park in Godsall Street. Parking is always a premium but for the first 15 people, you are welcome to use the RE/MAX carparks at 200 Hume Street!
Sideshow Alley & The Live Concert series commence on 15th to the 17th of September with the concert featuring such acts as The Temper Trap, The Angels & Daryl Braithwaite among many others!
Let us finish on one of the most popular events across Carnival Weekend! The food and wine festival runs from Friday the 15th to Sunday the 17th of September. For three mouth watering days you can sample the world famous produce of Southern Queensland country all in one place. For adults, a one day pass is $35 or a three day pass is $90. Treat yourself to incredible flavours, produce and wine fresh from the bountiful pastures, orchards and vineyards of the region.
There are so many wonderful events to mention for the Carnival that we simply cannot cover them all in this update. For further information visit tcof.com.au.
In terms of sales, our office continues helping huge numbers of buyers and sellers with 29 Contracts written for August. For a traditionally slower month at the back end of Winter, this is certainly bucking the trend of what we are used to! Leading into Spring, the office is experiencing a generous amount of new properties hitting the market as the Spring selling season kicks off. Buyer activity during this time should increase with an uptick on the amount of sales as a result.
I would also like to announce that our sales family has grown to 6! We would like to welcome ‘Team Justine’ consisting of husband and wife duo Justine Dill & Chris Shine to RE/MAX. With a strong work ethic & exemplary communication to clients they will fit right into the high service environment we offer to all buyers and sellers at RE/MAX.
As we turn our attention to the rental market, our office secured 61 new tenancies ensuring our vacancy rate is incredibly low at just 1.56%, significantly lower than the average in our area.
On behalf of the Daniel Burrett Team, thank you for watching, we look forward to keeping you updated over the years.
