October Market Update
This month we have something a little different to bring to you! We’re coming to you from the future, that is, a house that has embraced some of the emerging technology that is changing the way we go about our daily lives.
Advances in technology have always been a hot topic but as of late, more and more devices are hitting the market with the aim to make everyday living more simple. Review our daily blog videos to see some of the cool stuff on offer and coming!
Excel Power, a family owned local company have recently installed a state of the art security system which can be watched remotely, a central touch screen control unit for all the lighting throughout the home and solar batteries to store the power generated from the solar panels during the day, now these products are just the tip of the iceberg with what is coming.
One of the biggest players in this space is Amazon who have recently released its latest venture, Amazon Key. Amazon Key is security camera and locking system that allows you to get deliveries inside your home when you’re not there. Essentially, when the Amazon delivery driver arrives at your front door, they scan your package. If the package is approved, the door unlocks, and the camera starts recording.
Now here’s the cool part: you can watch the delivery driver from your phone, and apparently even talk to them. After the driver has dropped off the package, the door automatically locks behind them. And if you’re busy working you’ll get an email with a recorded video of the drop-off.
Amazon Key costs $250US and is currently available in 37 cities across the United States; but if it’s successful you can be sure it’ll be quickly rolled out here in Australia in no time. In the coming months Amazon Home Services is rolling out 1,200 different services from cleaners to dog walkers, who will all sync into the Amazon Key system, meaning you’d no longer have to give strangers a key to your home.
Late last year Amazon released Amazon Go, a unique shopping experience without the hassle or lines or checkouts. With the ‘Just Walk Out’ shopping experience, you simply use the Amazon Go app to enter the store, take the products you want, and go! The technology automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart. When you’re done shopping, you can just leave the store.
Shortly after, Amazon will charge your Amazon account and send you a receipt.
Amazon already has a presence in Australia, but it’s said that the global giant will be rolling out different services the business offers throughout 2018.
In terms of sales, our office has seen a continued rise in buyer and seller confidence with 33 Contracts written between our 6 agents as well as listing 41 properties fresh to the market. We are expecting this confidence to continue throughout the rest of the year right up until Christmas..
As we turn our attention to the rental market in Toowoomba, in October RE/MAX Success serviced 1,745 unique tenant enquiries, conducted 363 property inspections, processed 151 tenancy applications and secured 64 new tenancies, which is considerably higher than September. We are happy to report that our vacancy rate as at the 31st of October 2017 consistent at 2%, which is significantly lower than the average in our area.
On behalf of the Daniel Burrett Team, thank you for watching, we look forward to keeping you updated over the years.
